The Cartilage Bracelet draws its form from the outline of an equine jawbone, transformed into a series of linked structures. The design nods to a tradition in early American folk music, where the jawbone of a deceased horse or donkey, left to decay, was repurposed as a percussion instrument. This metaphorical transformation of a rigid, skeletal object into something malleable is reflected in the bracelet’s balance of form and flexibility. Handmade of 925 sterling silver.
